At Play on the Holiday: Toy Safety Tips

rotator-toysThe holidays are coming, and with them a long list of shopping To Do’s. it is important to keep in mind that some toys for children can be harmful or unsafe.  In 2010, an estimated 181,500 children were treated in emergency rooms for toy-related injuries. Here are some safety tips to keep in mind when buying toys for children this season:

1. Find the perfect toy for the right age

  • small parts can be choking hazards for little ones

2. Don’t forget a helmet for riding toys

  • in case of falls, keep their heads covered

3. Store toys away after play

  • use a bin to keep toys out of reach and out of the way

4. Supervision is always neccesary

  • keep the child in sight and in reach at all times

5. Inspect toys for potential hazards

  • broken toys can be dangerous!
